History of hypnotism
When we look into the history of Hypnosis, we can see it have ancient roots. Many cultures, unknowingly use hypnosis in their spiritual practices. For example, if you see the ancient rituals you can see it. The use of rhythmic chanting, use of musical instruments like drums, and hand gestures of priests create a hypnotic atmosphere.
The Egyptians have sleep temples where the priest heals peoples by put them in a trance-like sleep and interpret their dreams and find cure for their illness.
Just like Egypt there were sleep temples in ancient Greece. That were dedicated to Asclepius, The God of medicine. In the temple the patient were in a trance state for three days. In this period the priest use hypnosis to obtain information of the illness and find a cure for it.
From 18th century onwards Hypnosis began to get the attention of the public. Austrian physicist France Anton Mesmer (1734-1815) was the one who put keen interest on this subject and made this technique popular. The name Hypnosis coming from the Greek God of sleep Hypnos. Scottish eye surgeon James Braid was the one who gave this name to this technique. In the 1920’s Clark Hull, and one of his students Milton. H. Erickson who started the modern-day research on Hypnosis. Erickson was recognized as a leading authority on clinical Hypnosis. He was a master of indirect hypnosis.

Self-hypnosis is a technique that you put yourself into a trance state by suggestions and make incredible changes in your life. There are many techniques to do self-hypnosis. Here is a simple technique for the beginners:
Lay down, close your eyes and relax your mind and body.
Concentrate only on your breath so by this you can relax more.
When you are relaxed completely, move your attention to every part of your body and make each part more relaxed.
The more relax and more you focusing on relaxing each muscle you’ll get into a trance state.
At this point give yourself positive suggestions for example “I will quit smoking”, “I’ll wake up every day” etc.
Now open your eyes and evaluate yourself and you done.
