astral projection out of body experience men of letters

Introduction

Have you ever woken up from your sleep because you felt like you fall into a deep, dark hole? Have you ever felt like your body is floating and you had the feeling of having control of your actions in dreams? Then you might have experienced an ‘Out-Of-Body Experience (OBE).

An Out-Of-Body Experience or astral projection is an experience where the astral body of one person leaves the physical body and can travel around the physical or astral plane. People who have the ability of astral projection can travel to distant locations and observe or do things there without physically go there. Once the astral body come back to the physical body, the person can recall all that he experienced.

What is the History behind Astral Projection?

Ancient cultures share similar beliefs about human souls and their ability to travel through different planes of existence and the incarnation. The concept of astral projection is based on these beliefs. According to historians, the idea of astral projection comes from the thought to travel to alternate planes of existence and make contact with beings from another realm to collect information which needed.

For example, in ancient Egypt, the priests know the existence of the astral body. They call it Kha and the inscriptions and drawings of many Egyptian temples represent the human soul and its journey through different planes of existence.

Another example we can see in ancient Greece temple of Eleusis were references of philosophers Plato, Hermotimus of Clazomene, Herodotus, and in some reports of the historian Plutarch of Queroneia. Plutarch tells us of the story of Arisdeu, which took place in the 79th year of the first century. Arisdeu had an accident that resulted in a coma. During the coma, he found himself that he is out of his body and he was able to travel to another dimension where he found his spirit guide. Then at a certain moment, he pulled back to his body. Today we can clearly understand that he had a near-death experience, which is becoming more and more common now.

What are the different planes of existence?

Before we continue further, we have to understand the concept of planes. According to esoteric cosmology, there are 7 planes of existence each one has its own characteristics. Let’s see what these seven planes are.

First plane (Physical)

This is the plane that we are familiar with this plane includes all plant and animal bodies, including humans.

Second Plane (Astral)

This is also known as the emotional plane. Within this plane, our thoughts will become reality. Time and matter will be distorted in this plane. Many mythological creatures dwell in this plane.

Third Plane (Mental)

This plane is the same as the second plane. But there is a slight difference between these planes that is you can travel through your own thoughts, but also that someone else. Time is greatly distorted even more than the Astral plane.

Fourth Plane (Buddhic)

This plane is for love and peace. Due to this any human reaching this plane would most likely not wish tp return.

Fifth plane (Spiritual)

This plane is highly spiritual therefore once individuality is nonexistent on this plane.

Sixth Plane (Monadic)

In this place, everything is a part of everything. It is said that here great paradoxes are tied together.

Seventh Plane (Adi)

This realm is beyond words. It is the highest realm of all. It is the realm of Oneness.

Astral Projection Methods

There are many techniques that will trigger Astral Projection. I am giving you well-known methods that are widely accepted.

MONROE METHOD

Robert Monroe is probably the most well-known figurehead of Astral Projection in the western world. His methods of achieving astral projection are well known, documented, and published. His main method is probably the best starting point for a newcomer. It is easy to understand, and once you have read the steps, you will easily remember them.

Follow the steps:

Relax your body.

move your physical body towards sleep. It is simply easy enough to lay, eyes closed, and to let your thoughts drift around. When you start to lose physical sensations, you have reached this state.

Do nothing. Physically, you are not moving. You should begin to look at the darkness in front of your eyes. Some strange things can happen in this state. Your field of vision may feel like it increases, which is an odd but enjoyable sensation. You may also notice light patterns or noises. It’s safe to ignore them as they will eventually go away. At this stage you may feel like you are falling, floating, or feeling and sensing absolutely nothing at all. Maintain this feeling.

Now you have to enter into the vibration state It is a feeling of weightless disorientation, tingling but with substance. Using willpower, you can enhance or decrease the feeling. It is extremely hard to describe in text. Reaching this stage feels like a milestone or checkpoint.

Attempt a separation with the limb You should begin with an arm or a leg. Robert Monroe suggests imagining your arm ‘extending’, that is to say, lengthening until it reaches something. You should try this. ‘Extend’ an arm or leg and try to analyze the sensations. It might be helpful at this stage if you have an object nearby. Try to touch it, try to kick it.

Now attempt a full separation Once you have partially separated, you should attempt to disassociate yourself with your body. There are many ways to do this. Imagine your body from a third-person perspective, and it may spontaneously happen of its own accord. Another method here is it imagine yourself a few feet above your body.

Note: Practice regularly After your experience, note it down in your journal It’s important to know that these methods can be exhausting, so don’t try again the same day. If you fell asleep, don’t treat it as a failure, just remember to learn from any experience and try again.

ROPE METHOD

The rope technique (or Rope Method) is probably the second most well-known method for Astral Projection, after the Monroe Technique. Firstly, go through the preparation stages listed on the website. These will help get you into a receptive mental state.

Then follow the steps :

Relax your body.

Move towards sleep, do not attempt to keep your body awake. Simply lay, eyes closed and let your thoughts drift around. When you started to lose physical sensation, you have reached the state.

You should begin to look at the darkness in front of your eyes. In this state, you may notice light patterns or noises. Ignore them to maintain this feeling.

Now you will enter into the vibration state. In this state you feel weightless, tingling but with substances. This will vary from person to person It is extremely hard to describe in text.

You should now imagine a rope, suspended from the ceiling, with the end of the rope dangling a few inches above your head. Spend some time imagining it, and making it as realistic as possible. Visualize its weight, texture, movement. Is it heavy, light, rough, smooth, moving with the breeze, or still?

Now attempt the separation of one limb When you are comfortable, reach out with your astral arm and grasp the rope. Remember never to move your physical body visualize your astral arm grabbing the rope feel that yourself.

Now attempt full body separation Imagine your other hand coming up, and grasping the rope tightly. When you are ready and exercising a lot of willpower, imagine yourself pulling your imaginary body up, and out of your physical body. when you are there, it will feel natural!

Note: Till you get more experienced never look back to your body when you have an OBE. To return to your body just imagine your physical body.

What happening around? – Pre-Projection Sensations

There are some pre-projection sensations you may have after the projection in this chapter I will explain the common sensation people have after Astral Projection.

  • Vibrations

Vibrations are the most common experience that people have at the time, or after the projection. However, it is probably the least understood. When you get these vibrations,    you have to remain totally calm and relaxed because it is a common thing. When you go deeper into your trance, the vibrations will spread all over your body. When you became relaxed and calm these vibrations will help you to have an OBE.

  • Sleep Paralysis

It is a common symptom that you might face during your practice. Don’t worry if you have this problem, it only lasts for a few minutes.

  • Strange sounds

You may hear strange sounds when you have an OBE or after, The nature of the sounds is linked with your own personality. Most commonly you may hear a buzzing sound. Don’t worry all these feelings are temporary.

  • Weight Changes

You may feel sudden weight changes when you practice Astral Projection. You may feel heavy or light, it depends on you.

  • Temperature Changes

Body temperature will increase when you have an out OBE.

  • Rapid Heart Rate

For beginners when you have an OBE the heart rate will rise, it’s a common phenomenon. When you became experienced you don’t feel a change in heart rate.
